Cambodia Urges UN Action Over Alleged Thai Acoustic Attacks

The Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) has called on the United Nations to intervene following reports of Thai military forces using high-decibel acoustic weapons against villagers near the Cambodia-Thailand border. CHRC President Keo Remy warned that continued UN silence could be seen as complicity.

In a letter to UN High Commissioner Volker Türk, Remy cited Thai media reports of speaker systems emitting sounds up to 200 decibels - levels that pose serious health risks. He emphasized the impact on vulnerable groups in Chouk Chey village, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

Remy described the tactic as a violation of human dignity and urged immediate international scrutiny to prevent further harm.
