Minister: Thailand Says Borders Are Open, But People Still Can’t Cross

Interior Minister Sar Sokha has strongly criticized Thailand, questioning the country’s honesty over border issues with Cambodia. In a June 25 social media post, Sokha pointed out that while Thailand claims all border gates are open, people are still barred from crossing. He accused Thai authorities of misleading both the public and the international community, saying Thailand is playing the victim and falsely blaming Cambodia. Sokha also recalled the May 28 killing of a Cambodian soldier by Thai troops in Preah Vihear province, accusing Thailand of using propaganda to distract from the incident and internal political problems. He demanded a clear public announcement if Thailand is truly reopening the borders. Currently, only students and patients are allowed to cross.
