Cambodia plans to export at least 160 tons of organic palm sugar in 2025, stated Sam Saroeun, President of the Kampong Speu Palm Sugar Promotion Association. The product, crafted by local farmers under strict community regulations, is projected to surpass this target, with global demand forecasted at 162 tons. To avoid oversupply, the association and farmers have agreed on production quotas and conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to quality guidelines.
Kampong Speu palm sugar, recognized for its organic integrity, is produced without chemicals in hilly terrain. The manual outlines four varieties: raw palm sugar, tablets, powdered sugar, and liquid sugar, with shelf lives ranging from one year (raw/tablets) to three years (powdered/liquid). To meet European market standards, growers must be association members, collaborating as a community to maintain consistent quality. This collective approach ensures Cambodia’s high-value organic palm sugar remains competitive globally.
