Hun Manet Gains Backing for Ceasefire Proposal at SCO Plus Summit

Prime Minister Hun Manet led a high-level delegation to the SCO Plus Summit in Tianjin, China, where he met with regional leaders, Chinese officials, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres to strengthen support for a Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire. Guterres welcomed the ceasefire, urging both countries to avoid military force and resolve border issues through existing mechanisms like the Joint Border Commission.

In talks with President Xi Jinping, China reaffirmed its backing for the ceasefire, the ASEAN monitoring mechanism, and the early launch of the ASEAN Observer Team, while pledging humanitarian aid to affected communities. Both sides also agreed to deepen cooperation in defence, security, and combating cybercrime.

Hun Manet expressed gratitude for China’s role in facilitating dialogue, reaffirming the “ironclad” Cambodia-China partnership and commitment to peace, stability, and development.
