Thai navy arrests Cambodian fishermen off Koh Kong province
Synopsis: Thailand is unlawfully detaining the fishermen who weren’t even fishing in Thai waters when they were captured, say police
Four Cambodian fishermen were apprehended by the Thai navy while they were fishing in Cambodian waters off Koh Kong province on Tuesday.
Bak Khlang Commune Police Chief Major Lay Sophath said yesterday that the Thai naval warship was within the Cambodian maritime border near in Koh Yor island at the time.
The naval force arrested four Cambodian fishermen who were fishing near the island about 19km from Thailand’s Trat province, he said.
The navy also confiscated the fishermen’s boat before unlawfully confining them at the Thai na-val headquarter in Trat province, he continued.
The four Cambodians were from Kampot province’s Kampong Trach district. They were on a fishing trip to Koh Kong province and staying in Mondul Seima’s Bak Khlang commune, he added.
“Our four Cambodian victims are still being confined at Thai naval headquarters in Trat prov-ince,” Maj Sophath said.
“But they were not fishing in Thai waters,” he said.
Mom Malika, spokesman for Koh Kong Provincial Administration, said yesterday that the pro-vincial authorities are in talks with the Thai side to release the fishermen.
According to a police report, the four Cambodians were Tey Choeun, 48; Kong Baraing, 42; Nob Kimheng, 17; and Chem Pheng, 55.

លោកបាននិយាយថា កម្លាំងកងទ័ពជើងទឹកបានចាប់ខ្លួនអ្នកនេសាទកម្ពុជាចំនួនបួននាក់ ដែលកំពុងនេសាទនៅក្បែរកោ���នោះ ចម្ងាយប្រហែល 19 គីឡូម៉ែត្រពីខេត្តត្រាត ប្រទេសថៃ។
លោកបានបន្តថា កងទ័ពជើងទឹកក៏បានរឹបអូសទូករបស់អ្នកនេសាទផងដែរ មុនពេលឃុំខ្លួនពួកគេដោយខុសច្បាប់នៅទីបញ្ជាការកងទ័ពជើងទឹកថៃ ក្នុងខេត្តត្រាត។
លោកបានបន្ថែមថា ជនជាតិខ្មែរទាំងបួននាក់នោះមកពីស្រុកកំពង់ត្រាច ខេត្តកំពត។ ពួកគេបានទៅនេសាទនៅខេត្តកោះកុង ហើយបានស្នាក់នៅក្នុងឃុំបាក់ឃ្លាំង ខេត្តមណ្ឌលសីមា។
ឧត្តមសេនីយ៍ទោ សុផាត បានមានប្រសាសន៍ថា «ជនរងគ្រោះកម្ពុជាទាំងបួននាក់របស់យើងនៅតែត្រូវបានឃុំខ្លួននៅទីបញ្ជាការកងទ័ពជើងទឹកថៃក្នុងខេត្តត្រាត»។
លោកបានមានប្រសាសន៍ថា «ប៉ុន្តែពួកគេមិនបាននេសាទនៅក្នុងដែនទឹកថៃទេ»។
លោកស្រី មុំ ម៉ាលីកា អ្នកនាំពាក្យរដ្ឋបាលខេត្តកោះកុង បានមានប្រសាសន៍កាលពីម្សិលមិញថា អាជ្ញាធរខេត្តកំពុងចរចាជាមួយភាគីថៃ ដើម្បីដោះលែងអ្នកនេសាទ។
យោងតាមរបាយការណ៍របស់ប៉ូលីស ជនជាតិខ្មែរទាំងបួននាក់នោះ មានឈ្មោះ ទី ជឿន អាយុ ៤៨ ឆ្នាំ, គង់ បារាំង អាយុ ៤២ ឆ្នាំ, ណុប គឹមហេង អាយុ ១៧ ឆ្នាំ និង ចែម ផេង អាយុ ៥៥ ឆ្នាំ។
